"Last Stop In Brooklyn: A Mary Handley Mystery" by Lawrence H. Levy
Hello everyone
Today's Book Review is on the one:
"Last Stop In Brooklyn: A Mary Handley Mystery"
Written by Lawrence H. Levy
I have to say that reading this book really gave me Sherlock Holmes vibes and I absolutely adore S. Holmes!
The female inside the story has a very sarcastic personality, much like Holmes himself.
It also made me instantly think of the Nancy Drew series, maybe moreso for the fact she is this strong and independent female figure!

Before I got this book, I didn't know it was one of many issues inside a series.
But what I loved about reading this book was that it all folded together nicely, without a need of a explanation. I could easily jump in with the book and not feel too confused, since it's a great stand alone by itself. I also love that not too much background of other issues were covered in this specific novel, which means that other books weren't ruined upon my skipping a few. So, I can easily go and purchase the rest without having any story destroyed in the process.
There are side narratives which do take away from the main story a bit by confusing you and pulling you out of the amazing adventure with Mary.
It probably is a must-have for the various novels beforehand but when I read a detective novel of this structure, I want to stay connected and sucked in without returning back to normality. (which these side narratives tend to do for me!)

I really love how Mary is slightly modern, so you can connect with her on a greater scale BUT she isn't too modern to the point of eye-rolling. She is modern enough to bring a sense of familiarity but she still stays in the place near the end of the 19th century.
I don't want to ruin such a great read by exposing the plot and all the information--but it was very fun.
As an avid thriller/mystery loving reader myself, this is a MUST READ!!!
I was moved quickly into the story, no long drawn-out beginning or anything. Which is always nice for a mystery novel. I just really love it and I highly recommend.
