BOOK REVIEW: The Lost Art Of Conversation by Sakyong Mipham

Hello everyone
I have another book review for you
This book is titled;
"The Lost Art Of Conversation"
by Sakyong Mipham.

I have been suffering from anxieties and post traumatic events that cause dealing with people to be a very hectic job for me in such a communicative world.

All my life I have lived in fear of talking to strangers.
I would envy anyone who had the ability to speak with people with a flow and ease that exceeded my own abilities.

I would freak out whenever I had to do something that required me to speak to someone else--I would sweat, my pulse would quicken and I would stutter not because I have the disability but because I was be so afraid I forced myself to do such a thing.

I tried everything. From counseling and even taking medications the doctor prescribed me specifically for anxieties and ADHD. Nothing seemed to work.
It wasn't until recently that I looked into meditation and spirituality...and this is where I stumbled onto this book.

Anything that could help me with this struggle is greatly appreciated and just by reading a few pages from the beginning--I am already opening my mind and relaxing that constant fear of myself. I don't know how to explain it but after reading the book front to back, I feel some kind of awareness that was not there up until I cracked the binding of this book.

I literally broke down in tears after the first few chapters because something inside me snapped.
The book really dissects everything down to the bare skeleton.
Allowing you to see things from other people's point of view rather than your own, making you see humanity as an extension of yourself rather than forcing you to believe that you are alone.
It really made me change my whole outlook on life, treat everyone the same and making me feel like I am apart of something with someone rather than suffering in silence alone like many of the therapists and counselors led me to believe.

I really highly recommend this book to anyone having issues with conversation as a whole.
Even spirituality aside, it's still a great tool to overcome fear and boost your own self confidence.
xoxo
